New Zealand MFAT Russia Sanctions Register is the official sanctions list maintained by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) under the Russia Sanctions Act 2022 and Russia Sanctions Regulations 2022.

Legal Framework: Enacted in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, New Zealand's autonomous sanctions regime allows the government to impose asset freezes, travel bans, and trade restrictions on designated individuals and entities.

Coverage: The register includes:

• Individuals (government officials, military commanders, oligarchs)
• Entities (banks, defense companies, state corporations)
• Vessels (ships involved in sanctions evasion or supporting military operations)

Sanctions Types:

• Asset freezes - prohibition on dealing with designated persons' assets
• Travel bans - designated individuals prohibited from entering New Zealand
• Trade restrictions - prohibitions on specific goods and services

Penalties: Violations can result in criminal penalties including imprisonment up to 7 years and/or fines up to NZ$1 million for individuals, or up to NZ$5 million for corporations.
