Australia-DFAT sanctions list
Australian DFAT Consolidated Sanctions List is maintained by the Australian Sanctions Office (ASO) within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Established on 1 January 2020, the ASO serves as Australia's sanctions regulator. The list includes all individuals, entities, and vessels subject to Australian sanctions, including UN Security Council sanctions and Australia's autonomous sanctions under the Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011.
Autonomous sanctions are discretionary foreign policy tools that Australia can apply unilaterally or with like-minded countries to address situations of international concern. Measures include targeted financial sanctions (asset freezes), travel bans, arms embargoes, and maritime sanctions. Penalties for non-compliance are severe: individuals face up to 10 years imprisonment and/or fines up to A$555,000; corporations can be fined up to A$2.22 million or three times the transaction value.
